Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MT1IP RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MT1IP’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where MT1IP RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MT1IP is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KIRP show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, KIRP, and THCA are the cancer types where MT1IP tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
