Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MT-TE RNA is linked to patient survival in 18 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated MT-TE data layer.
The strongest signal is observed in cervical squamous cell carcinoma and endocervical adenocarcinoma (CESC), where higher MT-TE RNA is associated with better disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated MT-TE expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as CESC and LGG show a favorable association.
CESC, LGG, and DLBC are the cancer types where MT-TE RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
