Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MT-CO1 RNA is linked to patient survival in 23 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated MT-CO1 data layer compared with 5 for mass-spec protein.

The strongest signal is observed in adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), where higher MT-CO1 RNA is associated with better disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated MT-CO1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as ACC and LGG show a favorable association.

ACC, LGG, and KICH are the cancer types where MT-CO1 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
