Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MRPS33 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MRPS33’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where MRPS33 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MRPS33 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUAD, LIHC, and THCA are the cancer types where MRPS33 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
