Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MMP9 mass-spec protein is linked to patient survival in 6 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated MMP9 data layer compared with 29 for mass-spec protein and 4 for mutation status.

The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where higher MMP9 mass-spec protein is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated MMP9 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as CCRCC and UCEC show a favorable association.

LUAD, CCRCC, and UCEC are the cancer types where MMP9 mass-spec protein most reproducibly stratifies survival.
