Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MIRLET7C RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 5 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MIRLET7C’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney chromophobe (KICH), where MIRLET7C RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MIRLET7C is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KICH, BRCA, and UCEC are the cancer types where MIRLET7C tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
