Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MIR548AY RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MIR548AY’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where MIR548AY RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MIR548AY is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LIHC, LUSC, and LUAD are the cancer types where MIR548AY tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
