Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MIR181A2HG RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MIR181A2HG’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where MIR181A2HG RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MIR181A2HG is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and PRAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, LIHC, and HNSC are the cancer types where MIR181A2HG tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
