Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MIR1251 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MIR1251’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney chromophobe (KICH), where MIR1251 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MIR1251 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as UCEC and LUSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KICH, UCEC, and LUSC are the cancer types where MIR1251 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
