Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MAP1LC3C RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MAP1LC3C’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where MAP1LC3C RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MAP1LC3C is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and HNSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, HNSC, and LUSC are the cancer types where MAP1LC3C tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
