Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, LMX1A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of LMX1A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where LMX1A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types LMX1A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as COAD and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

COAD, THCA, and BLCA are the cancer types where LMX1A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
