Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, KRTAP5-6 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of KRTAP5-6’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where KRTAP5-6 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types KRTAP5-6 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and READ show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LIHC, BRCA, and LUSC are the cancer types where KRTAP5-6 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
