Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, KRTAP5-5 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 5 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of KRTAP5-5’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where KRTAP5-5 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types KRTAP5-5 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as HNSC and KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LIHC, STAD, and HNSC are the cancer types where KRTAP5-5 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
