Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HTR1E RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HTR1E’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where HTR1E RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HTR1E is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and STAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, STAD, and BRCA are the cancer types where HTR1E tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
