Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HTR1D RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 17 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HTR1D’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where HTR1D RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HTR1D is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and PRAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
HNSC, COAD, and THCA are the cancer types where HTR1D tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
