Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HOXA11-AS RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HOXA11-AS’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where HOXA11-AS RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HOXA11-AS is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and BLCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, HNSC, and LUAD are the cancer types where HOXA11-AS tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
