Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HMGN2P28 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HMGN2P28’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where HMGN2P28 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HMGN2P28 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and COAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, CHOL, and COAD are the cancer types where HMGN2P28 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
