Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HMGB3P27 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 5 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HMGB3P27’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where HMGB3P27 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HMGB3P27 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and ESCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, KICH, and LUAD are the cancer types where HMGB3P27 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
