Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HLA-J Mutation is linked to patient survival in 1 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated HLA-J data layer compared with 25 for mass-spec protein.

The strongest signal is observed in skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM), where higher HLA-J Mutation is associated with better disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated HLA-J expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as SKCM show a favorable association.

SKCM are the cancer types where HLA-J Mutation most reproducibly stratifies survival.
