Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, H3-3B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of H3-3B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where H3-3B RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types H3-3B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

HNSC, KICH, and LIHC are the cancer types where H3-3B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
