Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FGF13 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 16 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FGF13’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where FGF13 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FGF13 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, THCA, and LIHC are the cancer types where FGF13 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
