Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM86DP RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM86DP’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where FAM86DP RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM86DP is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, COAD, and LIHC are the cancer types where FAM86DP tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
