Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM83E RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM83E’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where FAM83E RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM83E is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, KICH, and COAD are the cancer types where FAM83E tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
