Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM224A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM224A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney chromophobe (KICH), where FAM224A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM224A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KICH, THCA, and BRCA are the cancer types where FAM224A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
