Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM209B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 6 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM209B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where FAM209B RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM209B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRP and LUSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, KIRP, and LIHC are the cancer types where FAM209B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
