Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM186B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM186B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where FAM186B RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM186B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, COAD, and KICH are the cancer types where FAM186B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
