Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM138C RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM138C’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), where FAM138C RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM138C is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUSC and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LUSC, UCEC, and LUAD are the cancer types where FAM138C tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
