Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM138B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM138B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where FAM138B RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM138B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and LUSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, LUSC, and UCEC are the cancer types where FAM138B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
