Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ETV3L RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 6 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ETV3L’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where ETV3L RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ETV3L is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
HNSC, KIRC, and BRCA are the cancer types where ETV3L tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
