Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, EIF4E1B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 5 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of EIF4E1B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA), where EIF4E1B RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types EIF4E1B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as COAD and KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
BRCA, COAD, and KIRC are the cancer types where EIF4E1B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
