Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, EGFEM1P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of EGFEM1P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where EGFEM1P RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types EGFEM1P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA and COAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, BRCA, and COAD are the cancer types where EGFEM1P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
