Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, DIS3L RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of DIS3L’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where DIS3L RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types DIS3L is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, CHOL, and LIHC are the cancer types where DIS3L tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
