Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, DES Mutation is linked to patient survival in 8 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated DES data layer compared with 25 for mass-spec protein and 5 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC), where higher DES Mutation is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated DES expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as LUSC show a favorable association.
ACC, HNSC, and LIHC are the cancer types where DES Mutation most reproducibly stratifies survival.
