DES

Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, DES RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of DES’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where DES RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types DES is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, THCA, and KIRC are the cancer types where DES tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
