Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, DDX3X RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of DDX3X’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where DDX3X RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types DDX3X is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, KICH, and BRCA are the cancer types where DDX3X tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
