Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, CERS4 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of CERS4’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where CERS4 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types CERS4 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUAD and BLCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUAD, KIRC, and KICH are the cancer types where CERS4 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
