Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, C8B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of C8B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where C8B RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types C8B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, LUAD, and LUSC are the cancer types where C8B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
