Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, C6orf136 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of C6orf136’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where C6orf136 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types C6orf136 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and COAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, STAD, and LIHC are the cancer types where C6orf136 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
