Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ATP5F1E RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ATP5F1E’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where ATP5F1E RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ATP5F1E is over-expressed in tumor.

HNSC, LIHC, and BRCA are the cancer types where ATP5F1E tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
