Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ATP5F1D RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ATP5F1D’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), where ATP5F1D RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ATP5F1D is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and HNSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUSC, LIHC, and KICH are the cancer types where ATP5F1D tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
