Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, APOL5 Mutation is linked to patient survival in 5 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated APOL5 data layer compared with 29 for mass-spec protein and 3 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where higher APOL5 Mutation is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated APOL5 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as BLCA show a favorable association.
KIRC, COAD, and UCEC are the cancer types where APOL5 Mutation most reproducibly stratifies survival.
