Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, AKR1C5P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of AKR1C5P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA), where AKR1C5P RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types AKR1C5P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA and CHOL show the opposite, repressed pattern.
BRCA, CHOL, and HNSC are the cancer types where AKR1C5P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
