Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ADH1B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 17 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ADH1B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where ADH1B RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ADH1B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as COAD and KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

COAD, KIRC, and HNSC are the cancer types where ADH1B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
