Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ABCG8 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ABCG8’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where ABCG8 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ABCG8 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LIHC and KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LIHC, KIRC, and CHOL are the cancer types where ABCG8 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
