Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, A1CF mass-spec protein differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of A1CF’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (CCRCC), where A1CF mass-spec protein is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types A1CF is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as CCRCC and PDAC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
CCRCC, PDAC, and COAD are the cancer types where A1CF tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
