Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ZNF542P RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ZNF542P’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where ZNF542P RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ZNF542P is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and HNSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, HNSC, and COAD are the cancer types where ZNF542P tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
