Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ZNF256 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ZNF256’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where ZNF256 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ZNF256 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as COAD and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

COAD, THCA, and READ are the cancer types where ZNF256 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
