Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ZNF138 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ZNF138’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where ZNF138 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ZNF138 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

BLCA, LUAD, and LIHC are the cancer types where ZNF138 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
