Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ZCCHC12 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ZCCHC12’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where ZCCHC12 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ZCCHC12 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, KICH, and UCEC are the cancer types where ZCCHC12 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
