Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, XRCC1 RNA is linked to patient survival in 19 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated XRCC1 data layer compared with 4 for mutation status and 5 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in mesothelioma (MESO), where higher XRCC1 RNA is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated XRCC1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as SCLC and LUSC show a favorable association.
MESO, ACC, and LGG are the cancer types where XRCC1 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
